Tỉnh Cà Mau có khoảng 278.615 ha nuôi tôm, trong đó có 6.503,70 ha nuôi công nghiệp. Thời gian qua, người dân ở các huyện: Ngọc Hiển, Ðầm Dơi, Năm Căn, Cái Nước, Phú Tân, U Minh... rất bức xúc khi nhiều hộ nuôi tôm công nghiệp xả nước thải, chất thải không qua xử lý ra môi trường, gây ô nhiễm nguồn nước, ảnh hưởng đến hàng trăm ngàn héc-ta tôm nuôi sinh thái cũng như nguồn nước sản xuất, sinh hoạt.

Mr. Phan Hoang Vu, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that since the beginning of the year, shrimp prices have decreased compared to the same period last year, and by June and July, prices were at a low level, which could be said to have “hit rock bottom” compared to previous years. Shrimp farmers are currently facing many difficulties, especially those who raise super-intensive shrimp.

Seafood exports to markets decreased in August 2021

Accumulated in the first 8 months of 2021, Vietnam's seafood exports reached nearly $5.6 billion, still increasing by about 7% thanks to high export results in the first 7 months of the year. In which, shrimp exports increased by 6.4% to 2.45 billion USD, pangasius exports reached 993 million USD, up 8.8%, tuna exports grew 12%, cephalopod and other fish exports increased by 4-5 %.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 21 March, 2024 – In a groundbreaking move that sets a new precedent for sustainable investment in climate-vulnerable regions, the Dutch Fund for Climate and Development (DFCD), represented by SNV and the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank (FMO), and Camimex Group Joint Stock Company (Camimex), is delighted to announce the intention to launch a strategic investment that aims to support sustainable aquaculture in Vietnam's Mekong Delta. This significant commitment, (a planned senior secured loan of USD 15 million from FMO to Camimex), would mark the first investment in a company that has been de-risked through the DFCD's innovative origination approach. The announcement coincides with the Dutch trade mission to Vietnam, highlighting the international importance of this initiative.
